There’s a decent amount of ground covered here considering how short it is. Some of his advice is a little dated, as indicated by his references to sprite color pallet limitations on consoles during SMT1’s heyday, but hopefully this is still a fun look into how some of Atlus’ most iconic demon designs were originally handled. Pretty unorthodox jumping immediately into sprite work for a lot of demons!

Incredible stuff. We don’t deserve you!
This is the Lord’s work right here.
sprited from scratch, based on Detective Comics #27 (1939)
Didn’t we celebrate “Batman day” in May to celebrate his first appearance in Detective Comics #27? That was only two months ago, but, hey, let’s do it again anyway. Besides, you rarely see Batman-related posts on the internet, so let’s use another day to adjust that balance.
Bit of an old one, been using this sprite an my avatar for ages. So thought I would post the rest of the expressions I did for him.
Here’s my recreation of the werewolf sprite from Sega’s Altered Beast. He’s mostly one color, so I just colored the lines with layers, drew some simple, flat shading, masked it for the outline, applied the palette I made for the old sprite edit version and tweaked it from there.
Progress on Redstreak, I’ve been doing place holder sprites, trying to make the process more effecient.
It’s the only Friday the 13th of 2014, so here’s a Friday the 13th themed update with Jason Voorhees (SFA3 portrait and more), Splatterhouse’s Rick Taylor (Wanpaku Graffiti-style sprite and SFA3 portrait edited from Jason’s) and the second boss from Crime Fighters. There are also sprite edits of Decapre, who was supposed to be in another update but her mask, creepiness and stabby tencdencies let her slip into today’s bloodbath. All those sprites are in the Graphic Generators
The final sprite with transparent pants is slightly different from the one posted in last week’s update. These will hit the main ScrollBoss site in this week’s small update.
BTW: Don’t forget to hit the Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Kickstarter and help out if you’ve got the coins to do so!
Super-update with more Superman sprites, Super Sonic (cue J.J. Fad beat here) the Samaritan (from Astro City) and Apollo. The site’s news post is here or you can just hit the Screenshot Generators (I used one to make the pic in this post) and Superman: Battle Hover gallery.
It’s the last of this week’s comic updates!
Lois Lane (40’s/Fleischer cartoon outfit), Bizarro, Braniac, General Zod, Storm (with the mohawk) and Atomic Runner/Chelnov (25th anniversary!) have been added the custom sprite galleries and the GFX Generators. There’s a bit more in the site’s news post, but that’s most of it.
If you missed the earlier updates with things like the Iron Man MUGEN stage, new scratch-made sprites of Splinter, Shredder, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and more, check out site news posts 1, 2, 3 for the info.
