The newness is on! Crap, there’s almost too much newness! Look at all that new stuff and exclamation points! Look closely at that Final Fight background, because that isn’t from the game. I’m not typing all that crap out, and there’s even more (backgrounds, mini-logos, etc.), so go check out the update post. I’m gonna go somewhere and pass out. Pass out from newness.
2000th Tumblr post, and it’s a site update! New scratch-made sprites of April and Emma Frost were added to the main site’s GFX Image Generators. Street Fighter Alpha 3-style portraits of the TMNT. Hey, I’m celebrating the 25th anniversary of Konami’s TMNT game, so there’s no better time to add an April sprite, is there?
backgrounds: TMNT: Tournament Fighters (Konami), Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Capcom), Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Capcom)
I’ve been feeling a bit sick lately (probably sinus-related), so I’ve been working on easy items to fill in the gaps for the GFX Generator. Apocalypse’s CotA portrait comes from the Jim Lee X-Men card art, like some of the real CotA graphics do. Some of the mini-logos are for things that need them while one is was request. Let me know if there are any characters in the generators that you want to see mini-logos before I get enough material for this update.
The Halloween update on the main ScrollBoss site is now (un)live!
New sprites of Master Dead (Splatterhouse), Sorceress (Dragon’s Crown), Pumpkin King (Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti), Ptolemy (the Fairyland Story), Neff (Altered Beast), Jennifer (Splatterhouse), Headless Horror (Altered Beast) and a surprise non-video game guest star. I also added some backgrounds to the GFX Generators, including the one you see from Night Slashers.
Just in case you were wondering, having an update with witches, skulls and a pumpkin was completely intentional.
Details are in the site news post here. Happy Halloween!
Today’s update includes more NES-styled sprites (RCR, Double Dragon 1, Mighty Final Fight and more) and RCR store backgrounds added to the Fake Screenshot generator along with some scratch-made Dragon’s Crown 8-bit sprites. You’ll also find a set of RCR sprites and sprite edits with a crazy amount of palettes. There’s more info on the latest site news post.
Micro-update: I added Terry’s Fatal Fury Special stage (day version) to Vs.Maker and GroupShot Graphic Generators.
I’d have done more, but I’ve gotta get back to work on those commissions!
It’s the last of this week’s comic updates!
Lois Lane (40’s/Fleischer cartoon outfit), Bizarro, Braniac, General Zod, Storm (with the mohawk) and Atomic Runner/Chelnov (25th anniversary!) have been added the custom sprite galleries and the GFX Generators. There’s a bit more in the site’s news post, but that’s most of it.
If you missed the earlier updates with things like the Iron Man MUGEN stage, new scratch-made sprites of Splinter, Shredder, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and more, check out site news posts 1, 2, 3 for the info.
GFX Generator upgrade: Palettes are now picked on a new third menu screen where you get previews of how they’d look. The sprite choice section on the second menu screen looks a lot less clusterfudged now.
The GroupShot generator now has “Comics 88x136 pixels” to make a mini comic book cover with a mini-logo. Yes, that’s a mock-up for paper ShiftyLook comics so you can make Namco comics. You’ll see more page styles. It’s a tight fit for 3 characters, but it does work in a few cases. I’ll add more cover styles in later updates if people let me know that they like these. Some of the new team mini-logos were made just for this, though the current doesn’t support enough for a Fantastic Four pic.
Hit the news article page for more info on this and other things going on with the site.
The Graphic Generators, pages that let you make your own fake screenshots, got a little update.
GroupShot Maker and Vs. Maker: New sprites include Linda from Double Dragon (DD1 arcade, DD1 NES and DD2 arcade looks + DD2 palettes), Radd Spencer in his NES look, Abobo and Williams in their DD2 looks (with DD2 palettes added). New palettes were added to Marian (her various hair and outfit color combos) and the Double Dragons (Doppelganger/Shadow from DD2).
Fake Screenshot: More Mega Man NES-style sprite edits were added to the those generators. The Custom sprite gallery finally has a page for all those hastily made Mega Man edits, too.

Other: Method Man, Redman, Devilman, Kinnikuman
