Think of this as a booster shot to Thursday’s Avenger-y update. Yes, that Hawkeye sprite edit is in the same pose from Avengers #189 and the select screen from Captain America and the Avengers.
The portraits from Data East’s “Captain America and the Avengers” come from official Marvel artwork and these two are from the old “the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe” series. Cap’s picture was drawn by Mike Zeck and Iron Man’s was drawn by Bob Layton. Both pictures were drawn by the artist who was drawing the book at that time. Hawkeye’s portrait comes from John Byrne’s cover for Avengers #189. I don’t remember where the Vision’s portrait comes from, but it looks familiar. I’d guess that it’s from West Coast Avengers since that’s one of the few books this version of the Vision appeared in before this game hit the arcades.
Today’s ScrollBoss site update has new scratch-made sprites of Giant-Man/Goliath (and Bill “Black Goliath” Foster), Quicksilver, Loki, the Mandarin, more outfits for the Wasp sprite I made last year, new/improved sprites for Cap & Hulk, a new Hall of Armor background for the generators.
Oh, and those dudes from the old Capcom unrelated Avengers beat-em-up (seen in the Capcom Classics Collection) snuck in. Hit the site and assemble your own team-ups with the GFX Generators or look at the custom sprite galleries.
Heads up: there will be an Avengers-themed update on ScrollBoss this Thursday. There will be new sprites of Avengers members and their enemies along with a new scratch-made background for the screenshot generators. This improved version of my Wasp sprite will get more outfits than this and those palettes I posted last weekend will work on all of them.
